Other than the political union by one government, the ultimate peace shall only be achieved by the union of people, friends and families. DMZ creates a spiritual and invisible barrier between people from North Korea and South Korea.
Essentially, the whole peninsula was completely scattered as many segments by DMZ. The eight “do” formation doesn’t exsit anymore. We propose to design a place to provide opportunities for people from two sides to meet their families and recall the past memories. Although two countries may not be united in foreseeable future, all people has been re-united by the same root. We intend to evoke people’s emotional response to this new sequence form by the gradual landscape changes and time passing.
We are confident that with human activities, this land will be activated. By utilizing the active and gradual occupying the DMZ landscape of the artificial landscape, a new level of reunion could be achieved.
